SAMHSA releases issue brief on opioid crisis and Hispanic/Latino populations

SAMHSA's Office of Behavioral Health Equity recently published a new issue brief titled, “The Opioid Crisis and the Hispanic/Latino Population: An Urgent Issue.” As described in the brief, the purpose of the publication is to provide recent data on the prevalence of opioid misuse and overdose death rates in the Hispanic/Latino population; discuss contextual factors that impact the opioid crisis in these communities; highlight innovative outreach and engagement strategies; and illustrate the importance of community voice and leadership in the development and implementation of solutions to the opioid crisis for this population.
