OBH Leader Dr. Janice Williams to Retire

OBH Deputy Assistant Secretary Dr. Janice (Petersen) Williams is retiring effective July 22. She has served in this position since joining OBH in 2014 with a mission to assist with integrating specialized behavioral health services in the Medicaid array of services. Since then, she has served under three assistant secretaries and has remained dedicated to keeping prevention on the radar within LDH. She has also focused on her passion of workforce development.


Prior to joining LDH, Dr. Williams was prevention branch head and policy advisor within the President’s Office of National Drug Control Policy. Over the years, she has served in leadership positions with state and federal organizations including the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration SAMHSA, CADCA, and NASADAD.
